The expandable flagship of the SLZB range. Two independent 2.4GHz radios run Zigbee and Thread / Matter side by side, each on its own external antenna, while an ESP32-S3 core adds Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, infrared, a USB host port and a click-in module bay. Built for Home Assistant, Zigbee2MQTT and Proxmox estates that want one device to cover more than one job.
Runs the local SLZB-OS firmware: a clean web UI, REST API, MQTT, HTTP passthrough, a WireGuard VPN client, DDNS, on-device automations and OTA updates for both the core and the radio firmware. Fully local. No cloud account required.
Two Radios, One Device
Radio one is the Texas Instruments CC2674P10 for Zigbee 3.0. Radio two is the Silicon Labs EFR32MG24 for Thread and Matter. That is the same radio pair as our SLZB-MR3U, so both networks run concurrently on separate antennas with no contention between them.
More Than a Coordinator
The Ultima adds a peripheral set the rest of the range does not have. A USB-A host port takes an external radio dongle and exposes it over TCP/IP, so a single mounting point can serve a third protocol. An infrared transmitter and receiver pull legacy air-conditioning and AV equipment into Home Assistant, capturing remote codes and replaying them as automation actions. A microSD slot, a piezo buzzer, a 3.5mm audio output and twelve WS2812B addressable LEDs round it out.
An ESPHome firmware option turns the device into a Home Assistant Bluetooth Proxy if that suits your deployment better than SLZB-OS.
What Is In the Box, and What Is Not
Worth reading before you order. The retail box is marked PoE ready, Z-Wave ready, 4G ready, mic ready and UPS ready. Ready means the board accepts an optional click-in module, and that module is not included.
You receive the Zigbee, Thread, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE base configuration, powered by 5V over USB-C. No PoE, no Z-Wave 800, no 4G / LTE, no microphone and no UPS module. SHG does not currently stock the click-in modules. If you want PoE in the box today, the SLZB-MR3U has it built in.

Home Assistant, Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA Compatibility
Both radios attach to Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA as network (TCP) adapters. The usual configuration runs one radio as a Zigbee coordinator and the second as an OpenThread Border Router for Matter-over-Thread devices, or two isolated Zigbee networks, for instance a separate mesh for chatty devices.
There is an official SMLight integration for Home Assistant that exposes diagnostic entities. Add the Z-Wave 800 module and Z-Wave JS becomes available too, though the module is a separate purchase and is not covered by our Singapore registration.

FAQ
How is this different from the SLZB-MR3U?
Identical radio pair, different everything else. The Ultima runs a newer ESP32-S3 core and adds the peripherals: USB host, infrared transmit and receive, microSD, audio out, addressable LEDs and the click-in expansion bay. The MR3U is the leaner choice and has PoE built in, which the Ultima only gets via an optional module.
Does it come with PoE?
No. PoE ready on the box means the board takes an optional PoE click-in module, which is not included and which we do not currently stock. Power it over USB-C, or choose the SLZB-MR3U if you need PoE now.
Can I add Z-Wave later?
The hardware supports a Z-Wave 800 click-in module, but we do not sell it. Note that our Singapore equipment registration covers the base 2.4GHz configuration, so a module that adds a sub-GHz or cellular radio falls outside it.
Do I still need a USB stick in my server?
No. Both radios connect to Home Assistant over your LAN as network adapters. Nothing plugs into the server. If you already own a USB radio, the Ultima's USB-A host port can expose it over the network instead.
